DP Local History Group and Centre
The Local History Centre has been open for six months now, and is attracting a wide range of visitors. Some come from far afield to research their Ditton Priors ancestors; many are local people interested in the history of their houses and of the area in general.
The basic exhibition portrays the history of Ditton from pre-historic times to the mid twentieth century. But for the months of November and December some of this is replaced by the exhibition of ‘The Fallen Heroes of Ditton Priors’, researched by Hugh Bryan and previously shown in the Church.
We tell the story of twenty- five young men who lost their lives in two World Wars and of those lost in air crashes around the Brown Clee.
An exhibition of wartime memorabilia from the Bob Handley Collection reminds us how life was in those times.
We are grateful to all the family members whose photographs we show.
The Local History Centre is open:
From November 1st to April 2nd the Ditton Priors Local History Centre will be open by appointment only.
If you would like to visit, any day of the week, please phone Rona Cobb on 01746 712850, Bob Williams on 01746 712662 or email ronacobb@googlemail.com
